NotesKing George V Field was once part of a larger estate known as the Homefield Estate. It was acquired by Wokingham Borough Council in 1937, when it was dedicated to the late King George V. In 1979 ownership passed to Wokingham Town Council. The heraldic panels at the entrance were provided by the King George's Field Foundation (KGFF), a national scheme set up in 1936 to commemorate the King's death. The Foundation established 471 playing fields across the country known as King George's Fields. The National Playing Fields Association became a KGFF Trustee in 1965 and the Trust's objectives were widened to include the preservation of these fields. See www.fieldsintrust.org.
